Tournament Report by Lena Wohlert
Last Sunday, our competitive volleyball team was one of 20 teams participating in the 22nd SFC Harz-Weser Volleyball Tournament.
In the first match of the preliminary round, we were defeated by a strong team from Northeim, though we lost the second set by just one point. We then won convincingly against the “Pink Pumas,” who, however, were far superior to us in terms of self-deprecating humor. In the following match against SC Hainberg, we struggled with our opponents’ consistent, powerful serves and never really found our rhythm. We ultimately finished the preliminary round with a promising match against SFC Harz-Weser I.
As the fourth-place team in our group, we entered the intermediate round, which determined places 9 through 16. Here, we first faced the somewhat unconventional “Adler” team. This was followed by a clear victory against SV Groß Ellershausen. After that came a hard-fought match against Hannover, in which we managed to tie one set. Unlike many other teams, we were able to improve as the tournament progressed. We finished the tournament with a strong performance in the placement match and secured 13th place.
